The desire for a quick fermentation has resulted in the growing popularity for the moderately priced VINKWIK yeast, which is ideally suited for all winemaking purposes.
It can even start fermentation within 2-3 hours compared with others that take much longer but are otherwise perfectly satisfactory.
Although this yeast can be sprinkled directly into the wine, a yeast starter can be made as follows:
- Dissolve 5ml (1 teaspoon) of sugar in half a cup of lukewarm water (35-40C).
- Add the yeast, stir and leave for 15 minutes.
- Add to the wine and stir well.
