 The first Major wine filter was released in 1972.
Over the years, this filter kit has constantly been updated to keep it at the
fore front of home wine filtration.
The earlier Major Mk1 model incorporated a plastic porous high density disc and used filter powders, namely Filter Coat, Filter Cake and Filter Polish. These were introduced into the Top Chamber as a
mixture of powder and water which prepared various filter layers.
The latest Major Mk2 kit uses "new technology" Mk2 filter pads instead of the earlier powders which means wines can be filtered to crystal-clear perfection, easier, quicker and more efficiently than before.
Although the manufacture of this filter kit has now been discontinued, replacement filter pads are available in packs of 8 units.
